Non-league players banned over match-fixing rule breach

Three non-league footballers have been suspended after they admitted breaching FA rules relating to match fixing.

Mickleover Sports' Zephaniah Thomas, Worcester City's Tyler Weir and Scott Spencer of Hyde United were charged with failing to immediately report to the Football Association an "approach by a third party related to seeking to influence the outcome or conduct of a match or competition".

A statement by the FA said: "It is important to note that the three players were not involved in any attempt to fix matches and did not accept monies or gifts."

Weir, who admitted two breaches, has been immediately suspended for six months of which two months will be applied immediately with the balance being suspended until July 1, 2018.

Thomas, who admitted one breach, has been immediately suspended for four months, of which six weeks will be applied immediately with the balance being suspended for two years.
