Boca Juniors are planning talks with former Chile manager Jorge Sampaoli, according to Sky sources.
The free agent, who was previously linked with Chelsea in the British press, was on the FIFA coach of the year shortlist in 2015 after winning the Copa America with Chile.
Argentine giants Boca sacked manager Rodolfo Arruabarrena following the club's 1-0 loss to Racing Club at the weekend, and face rivals River Plate next Sunday.
Sampaoli, 55, was in charge of Chile between 2012 and 2016, and led them to the last 16 of the 2014 World Cup before defeat by Brazil on penalties.
He was also named South American coach of the year in 2015, and was born in Argentina.
Guillermo Barros Schelotto, who played for Boca for 10 years, is also thought to be on the club's shortlist to replace Arruabarrena.
