Two goals from Kaka gave Orlando City a 2-1 win over New York City FC, while Bradley Wright-Phillips scored the only goal of the game to hand New York Red Bulls a 1-0 win over New England Patriots.

Meanwhile, a stunning first-half performance from Portland Timbers earned them a 4-2 win over Seattle Sounders in the MLS.

The Timbers put in a blistering first 45 minutes as goals from Vytautas Andriuskevicius, Fanendo Adi, Lucas Melano and Steven Taylor sent them in at the break 4-0 up.

There was a response in the second half from a shell-shocked Sounders and after Andreas Ivanschitz and Jordan Morris both found the net within six minutes of the restart there was hope of a comeback, but the Timbers held firm.
