Tom Cairney opened the scoring with a great strike as Fulham stunned Championship leaders Newcastle

Fulham's Tom Cairney opened the scoring at Newcastle with this thunderbolt from distance, his second stunner in as many games.

It has been quite the week for the former Blackburn and Hull midfielder. In stoppage time at Craven Cottage on Tuesday, with his side having missed a host of chances to find an equaliser against Leeds, Cairney rescued a point with a sensational curling effort.

On Saturday, in front of a packed St James' Park, against league leaders Newcastle, Cairney this time opened the scoring for his side, with another top class strike.

As the Magpies backed off, Cairney unleashed a ferocious effort from 25 yards, which Karl Darlow could do nothing about in the Newcastle goal.

The Cottagers went on to secure a vital 3-1 win in their quest for a play-off spot, with 16-year-old Ryan Sessegnon scoring a double as his stock continues to rise.
