Javi Gracia insists his Watford squad remain "mentally strong" ahead of their fixture against Fulham, live on Sky Sports, despite losing their perfect start to the season.

Watford's unbeaten record came to an end last week with a 2-1 loss to Manchester United, but Gracia remains confident of keeping his side in positive spirits.

"We had a good performance last week regardless of the result," said the Spaniard.

"After four wins in a row, the team is mentally strong. They don't need to get a good result to know we are doing good performances."

Gracia's well-drilled squad are only three points behind leaders Chelsea and Liverpool, and will be looking to apply pressure to the top two. However, Gracia is expecting a "tough" game at Fulham on Saturday.

"Fulham are playing really well, so I know it will be a tough game, but we are going to compete," added Gracia.

"They are a team who like possession, have an average of 54 or 55 per cent, and with a style of play where they are organised.

Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has impressed so far this season with four Premier League goals, but Gracia warned his team not to focus only on the threat of the Serbian.

"Mitrovic is scoring the goals, but for me Fulham is not just Mitrovic," the Watford manager said.

"There are many good players around him that help him to do his work."
