Manchester United forward Alexis Sanchez could return to Arsenal in the future, according to former Gunners winger Marc Overmars.

Sanchez joined United in January 2018 in a swap deal involving Henrikh Mkhitaryan, but has since struggled to find his best form.

The 30-year-old has scored just five goals in 37 matches for United and has also struggled with injuries.

Ajax director of football Overmars, who has been linked with taking up a similar position at Arsenal following the departure of Sven Mislintat, feels Sanchez may now be regretting the switch to Old Trafford.

"I have great respect for Alexis, because he did extremely well in Arsenal, but I do not know if it was a good decision to leave," he told Chile Radio Station, ADN Deportes.

"English football changes you, it turns you around, and it took me a step forward. Arsene Wenger arrived a year before me, Dennis Bergkamp made a big impression England. It was a fantastic time, I think we changed the history of the club a bit.
