Gary Neville believes it would be "impossible" for Manchester United not to give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the permanent manager's job should they beat Liverpool.
The two sides face each other at Old Trafford on Sunday (kick-off 2:05pm, live on Sky Sports Premier League) with Solskjaer having tasted defeat just once since taking over from Jose Mourinho on a temporary basis in December.
The Norwegian has won 11 of 13 games, including victories over Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal - the only defeat coming against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Gary Neville said: "Two or three months ago he would have been hopeful of getting the job, but if he beats Liverpool on Sunday then I can't see any way he wouldn't get it.
"It shouldn't be defined by one game but to beat Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal and then Liverpool it would almost make it impossible for him not to get the job.
"It is an incredible body of results and would make it a lot more difficult to withhold it from him if he keeps beating team after team."
Fellow Sky Sports pundit, Jamie Carragher, also believes it would be "very difficult" for anyone else to be given the Old Trafford job.
"He has to be given the job now, for what he has done," Carragher said. "It would be very difficult for another manager to take the job in the summer now.
"The pressure on a new manager to get the performances out of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is getting right now would be difficult.
"The players will be desperate for him to get it as well because they are enjoying their football and the games he has won, games they weren't winning at the start of the season, means he is a cert right now."
