Rangers midfielder Maurice Edu had mixed emotions after scoring at both ends during the 1-1 draw with Valencia.
Walter Smith's Gers put in an excellent display at Ibrox to hold Los Che, and had a number of chances to take all three points from the Group C encounter.
American Edu opened the scoring with a header in the 34th minute, but inadvertently nodded into his own net just 44 seconds into the second half.
He told Sky Sports: "The first goal I didn't have time to celebrate because I took a knock on the head and was laid on the ground for a while.
"The own goal, I saw it late and the next thing I know it hit me and it was in.
"I was trying to mark the guy in front of me and it looked like he was going to get it and at the last minute it hit me.
"That was obviously disappointing but we kept going and created more chances."
After weathering an early storm in the first 15 minutes, Rangers came out of their shell and had a number of great opportunities to score more than one in a pulsating tie.
Edu added: "We're pleased that we have played the way we did. We didn't just sit back and absorb pressure.
"We tried to go forward and create chances. We're definitely disappointed because I thought we created the more dangerous chances and we were unlucky not to finish a couple more."
The Glasgow giants travel to Spain in a fortnight's time for the reverse fixture at the Mestalla, and they currently lie second in Group C, one point above Valencia.
Edu is optimistic of a result away from home, and is taking heart after an impressive team display.
"We've got to be optimistic," he remarked. "We've played three tough matches and had decent results.
"We were unlucky not to win so we'll take confidence and head over there and try to put on another display like that."
