Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed striker Javier Hernandez could be out for up to five weeks with an ankle injury sustained at the weekend.
The Mexico forward was completely unmarked when he fell awkwardly in the 12th minute of Saturday's clash at Aston Villa.
After several minutes on the turf he had to be taken off on a stretcher, to be replaced by Antonio Valencia.
When quizzed on the severity of the injury Ferguson revealed the 23-year-old will be out for "a maximum of five weeks, a minimum of three," meaning Hernandez will definitely miss the club's festive programme, featuring games against QPR, Fulham, Blackburn and Wigan.
However, his rehabilitation could stretch into the New Year, meaning he could miss a league clash at Newcastle and the FA Cup third round showdown with rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on January 7.
