Jack Wilshere says Arsenal and England team-mate Danny Welbeck has become 'the key man' for club and country.

Welbeck is expected to lead the line for the Three Lions on Sunday as they look to extend their perfect start to European qualifying away in Estonia.

He was among the goals again on Thursday in a 5-0 victory over San Marino, taking his international tally to 11 in 29 appearances.

The 23-year-old is starting to show what he is capable of when deployed as a central striker on a regular basis, with a £16million summer switch to Arsenal allowing him to shake off the shackles.

Welbeck has already netted his first senior hat-trick in the colours of his new domestic employers and Wilshere believes the former Manchester United man is ready to fulfil his undoubted potential as a leading frontman.

The Arsenal midfielder, who will also be on England duty in Tallinn as Roy Hodgson’s men look to make it three wins from three in Group E, said: "The main thing for Danny is his confidence.

"I said before we signed him for Arsenal that he could play centre forward and he would score goals.

More from Estonia V England

"He proved that in the Switzerland game and since he's been at Arsenal he's been fantastic.

"He didn't really get that chance for Manchester United to play at the top and be the key man, the goalscorer.

"He's got that chance at Arsenal and he's showing everyone what he can do. I wouldn't say it's the start of him - but he's really starting to grow up.

"He's the key man and he likes that pressure of being the key man. His attitude is fantastic.

"If you look through the leagues, there's not many centre forwards who give you that work rate and score goals."
