Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher is expected to be fit for Saturday's Premier League game against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

The 27-year-old was injured during Scotland’s 1-0 win over the Republic of Ireland in their European Qualifier at Celtic Park last Friday.

Fletcher limped out of the game in the 56th minute and missed Scotland’s friendly defeat to England on Tuesday as a result.

However, the knock has responded to treatment after he returned to Wearside and he now looks set to lead Sunderland's attack at Leicester.

Manager Gus Poyet told the club’s official website: “Steven is okay. It was not nice at all watching the game and seeing Fletch coming off.

“Naturally as human beings we always think the worst, but we got in contact straight away with him and the Scottish medical staff, who were very good.

“They sent him back to us and we have done everything possible, so I will say I am 100% sure he will play on Saturday.”

Fletcher has scored four Premier League goals in nine appearances for Sunderland this season.
