Mark Noble will play no further part in West Ham's season, as he requires surgery for a long-standing abdominal problem.

The Hammers skipper will miss Premier League games against Liverpool and Burnley, having suffered from the injury for much of the campaign.

The club's head of medical and sports science, Stijn Vandenbroucke, said in a statement: "Mark has been playing in pain, but he is the captain and he wanted to do everything he could to ensure the club retained its Premier League status.

"We attended an appointment with the specialist on the evening before the Tottenham game and it was deemed that the surgery was now urgent.
