Tottenham must take lessons from Manchester City's title win, says Dele Alli

Dele Alli has urged Tottenham to take lessons from new Premier League champions Manchester City.

Spurs were beaten 3-1 by Pep Guardiola's side at Wembley on Saturday, with Manchester United's defeat at home to West Brom the following day confirming City's title.

Alli sent congratulatory messages to his England colleagues at Manchester City, including former club team-mate Kyle Walker, and said Spurs should study City's speedy ascent.

"They're an unbelievable side, they've got great talent and they've won a lot of games," he told Sky Sports News. "You can learn a lot, we have to keep working hard.

"Everyone is going to want to keep improving, it's been a very tough year this year, a lot of teams have improved and the Premier League is never easy. We have to keep fighting.

"They move the ball really quickly, great movement all over the pitch."

Spurs are 20 points behind the Premier League champions, but Alli is hopeful the club's hierarchy are taking the right steps to close the gap.

"I hope we're not too far," he said. "We've got a great team, an unbelievable manager. We're definitely heading in the right direction.

"It's not up to me what we need to do to make the next step. As players all we can do is work hard every day and make sure we're ready for the team."
