Manchester United continue David de Gea contract talks

Manchester United say they remain in discussions with David de Gea over a new contract at the club.

United have been surprised at reports they rejected wage demands of £350,000-per-week, as Sky Sports News understands they would be prepared to pay that amount, but agent demands may be driving the price higher still.

The club's chief executive Ed Woodward said in an investors conference call last week he was hoping to "finish off the final few [contracts] as rapidly as we possibly can".

Those "final few" also include Spain midfielders Juan Mata and Ander Herrera, as well as striker Marcus Rashford, whose deal expires in 2020 but includes a further year's option.

De Gea, Herrera and Mata are part of a group of six United first-team players whose contracts expire in June along with Matteo Darmian, Andreas Pereira and captain Antonio Valencia.
