Brazilian agrees contract extension at the KC Stadium

Hull City have confirmed that Brazilian forward Geovanni has signed a new two-year contract at the KC Stadium. The 29-year-old has become a favourite among Tigers fans after joining the club in July 2008 having been released by Manchester City. Geovanni was one of the main influences in Hull's dazzling start to last season as they competed at the top of the table in their debut Premier League campaign. But the Brazil international's form dipped as Hull struggled in the second half of 2008/09 and his future at the club was in doubt. Geovanni was involved in a bust-up with boss Phil Brown following a public display of insubordination after being substituted in a defeat to Blackburn in March. But the differences were settled and Hull have now tied the attacker to new terms after discussions began in the summer. Geovanni is expected to start for the Tigers when they travel to Anfield on Saturday, with Brown's side bidding to address a run of two wins in 28 league games.
