Ivory Coast battler not thinking of move away from Magpies

Newcastle midfielder Cheik Tiote insists he is happy at the club and enjoying life on Tyneside. The 24-year-old Ivory Coast international made the switch to St James' Park last summer from Dutch champions FC Twente and has been extremely impressive in his first Premier League campaign. Tiote has been a regular in the Newcastle side and scored a stunning last-gasp volley in the dramatic 4-4 draw with Arsenal in February. He has recently signed a new six-and-a-half-year contract with the club and claims he is targeting a long stay with the Toon. "If you come to a new club in a new country it is important there is a good atmosphere at the club," he said in the Northern Echo. "As soon as I arrived here the players made me feel welcome. They helped me settle in and meant I could do a good job on the pitch. "I would like to be here for a few years. I can learn here. I feel settled here. I enjoy it here. "The fans are good and the new manager likes me. The club has looked after me and I do my best for the team and the fans."

Too busy

Tiote has been linked with a move away from Newcastle following his fantastic first season in England, with Premier League champions Chelsea thought to be monitoring his progress. But the African ace is settled at the club and is not targeting a switch down to the capital any time soon. "Newcastle life is good for me. It is not like London. London is too busy, there are too many people," he added. "Newcastle is not so busy. That makes it easier to focus on your job. For me it is important." Alan Pardew's men next take to the field for a top-flight clash at home to Everton on Saturday.
