Midfielder could need further surgery on hernia injury

Fulham have received an injury blow with the news Steve Sidwell will miss the next six weeks with a recurring hernia injury. The 29-year-old was sidelined earlier in the season after undergoing an operation and could face further surgery. Midfielder Sidwell suffered a similar injury in Wednesday's 1-1 draw with West Brom and may need to go under the knife again. Despite Sidwell managing to play the full 90 minutes at Craven Cottage manager Martin Jol has admitted the former England U21 international will face an extended period on the sidelines.

Fear

"We had an injury to Steve Sidwell and he will be out for a long time for four, five or six weeks," he said. "He had a hernia operation as you know and it is almost the same problem. "He had an operation and we have to wait but we fear he needs another operation." Sidwell has only managed to feature in 14 Premier League games this campaign and will be a big loss ahead of trip to the Etihad Stadium to face league leaders Manchester City on Saturday.
