All the latest Man Utd transfer news and rumours from across the British and European press on Saturday, July 29.

Gareth Bale's agent, Jonathan Barnett, has told Sky Sports News that reports linking him with a move away from Real Madrid are "ridiculous" and "stupid".

Speculation linking the Welsh star with a move to Manchester United intensified this week after Zinedine Zidane refused to guarantee none of Bale, Karim Benzema or Cristiano Ronaldo would be sold this summer.

Manchester United have also opened contract talks with Ander Herrera in a bid to fend off interest in the midfielder from Barcelona, according to the Daily Star.

The Spain international has a year remaining on his current deal with the option of a 12-month extension while Barca see him as a long-term successor to Andres Iniesta.

Inter Milan manager Luciano Spalletti has confirmed there has been no contact from Manchester United over Ivan Perisic.

"Until now, there hasn't been any important contact," he said in quotes carried by the Mirror. "There was something you already know about at the beginning of the window [but] there was no follow-up and so, for me, the topic is over.

"It's true as time goes by, it becomes more and more difficult to replace him with another player. I will strongly oppose the sale of Perisic if an offer comes."

Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho has admitted Zlatan Ibrahimovic's injury forced the club to spend big on Romelu Lukaku this summer, but hinted the 35-year-old could yet return to Old Trafford.

Addressing the team's current attacking options, Mourinho said: "We spent big money on a striker because, with strikers, you either spend or you don't get.

"We spent because of what happened to Zlatan and we cannot allow ourselves to be without an important, strong striker for the first six months of the season."

The Manchester Evening News is also reporting that Manchester United have handed a trial to Brazilian wonderkid Gabriel Martinelli.

Martinelli, who plays for Brazilian side Ituano, came on as a substitute during a 2-0 win for a Man Utd youth XI over Lincoln Under-18s at Sincil Bank on Wednesday.
