Ander Herrera remains in talks with Manchester United over a new deal despite strong interest from Athletic Bilbao, Sky Sports News understands.

Herrera has been free to talk with foreign clubs since January 1 but we understand the midfielder is happy to continue discussions on a possible new deal at United.

La Liga side Bilbao have admitted they would like to take the 29-year-old back to Spain.

But United triggered a one-year option in Herrera's contract last year and he is thought to be enjoying life at Old Trafford under the caretaker management of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
