United chief not getting carried away

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is refusing to get carried away by talk of winning five trophies this season. United lifted their second prize of the season after overcoming Tottenham in the final of the Carling Cup in a dramatic penalty shoot-out. Ferguson's side are still well-placed to win the Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League with expectation growing they could secure all five trophies up for grabs this season. However, the wily Scot is keeping his feet on the ground ahead of this Wednesday's league trip to Newcastle. "The great advantage I have is I won't get carried away with it," said Ferguson. "We'll keep our feet on the ground. It would be great to think we could do it but my experience says we could go to Fulham next weekend, get a deflected shot off someone's backside and we're out of the FA Cup.

Good weekend

"But it was a good weekend for us - you hope your opponents drop points. "The best thing we can do is gather ourselves and energise ourselves for Newcastle on Wednesday. "I'll freshen it up in some positions and, hopefully, we'll get the result we want."
