Rafael admits playing under new manager Louis van Gaal will certainly not be boring.

The Brazilian defender believes the Dutchman "likes to employ intelligent footballers" and told MUTV he was excited at the prospect of playing under him this season.

Rafael said: "Everyone’s excited to see how he’ll be both during games and away from it.

“It’s clear (from watching him in the World Cup) that he likes to play with intelligent players.

“These types of players can change games and often shift from one formation to another. He seems very good at that.

“Some of his staff have been here from quite early on, so we have an idea of his methods but we are all looking forward to finding out more from him. I'm very excited.”

United are currently on their pre-season tour in the United States with the first, of a possible five matches, scheduled for Thursday against LA Galaxy.
