Carlo Ancelotti insists Fernando Torres' goal drought is 'not a problem' after the Chelsea striker drew another blank against Blackpool.
The Blues were 3-1 victors at Bloomfield Road on Monday night after Frank Lampard added two to John Terry's opener, with Jason Puncheon finding a late consolation for the Seasiders.
However, Torres, playing up front with Didier Drogba, ended the evening having still not opened his Blues account, taking his barren streak to five matches.
The misfiring Spaniard, who arrived at Stamford Bridge for a record £50million from Liverpool back in January, hardly had a chance all night and never looked like coming close to scoring, but manager Ancelotti is adamant he is not concerned.
"He is showing good movement; he showed good movement with Drogba in the first half," said the Italian.
"I think they played well, it was a good combination at the start of the game.
"I didn't ask them to play closer, I wanted them to spread the Blackpool defence.
"It is important he works for the team and he is doing that now and game by game he will improve and he will score.
"We are happy about his performance. He is a top scorer and he will score, this is not a problem."
Chelsea's latest win takes them within nine points of Premier League leaders Manchester United with a match in hand.
But Ancelotti has reiterated they cannot afford to be distracted by thoughts of a title defence.
He said: "Our aim at this moment is to stay in the top four. We are closer to Manchester United but we have to prepare for the next game and prepare game by game.
"To take it game by game is easier for us."
