Borussia Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke says Jurgen Klopp has the ability to manage any club in world football.
Klopp looks set to replace Brendan Rodgers as Liverpool boss later this week with talks progressing well, according to Sky sources.
And Watzke, who worked alongside Klopp at Dortmund until his departure from the Bundesliga club at the end of last season, believes the German is the ideal man for the Anfield hotseat.
He told Sky Sports News HQ: "He is not only a very good manager, he's a friend of mine and he's very, very honest and very sympathetic. He is a very good coach because he has a good mentality for it.
"He has a good style of playing football and I don't know if he goes to Liverpool or to another club but the club who gets him gets a very good manager.
"He can do every job, he can make every club and Liverpool is very similar to Borussia Dortmund, it has the same structure and the same fans. It is a marvellous club.
"Every player he has in his hands, he makes them better, you can be sure. It is wonderful to work with him because he has a big understanding of the problems of the club.
"He brings a warm feeling to the whole club and in seven years at Borussia Dortmund it was wonderful."
German legend Franz Beckenbauer says Klopp and Liverpool are a perfect match.
"He is fantastic. He is one of the best coaches I know in the whole world, and he was really a milestone for Borussia Dortmund.
"He took over the club and made them into a world-class team. He is one of the best in the world. If Liverpool has the chance to sign Jurgen Klopp then they should do it.
"He likes to talk. There are not many coaches left in the world that like to talk so much to the players but he is one of them.
"Liverpool is also one of the biggest clubs in the world, so Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp is definitely a good combination. He is also a winner."
There was further support for Klopp moving to Liverpool from Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.
Gundogan, who was linked with the Reds himself during the summer, said: "I've not had that much contact with him recently, and I've not followed much of what has been said, but I think Klopp would be a great fit at many clubs and I believe also at Liverpool.
"Of course it's something I can see happening. I think Klopp is capable of helping many top clubs in the world."
Former Bayer Leverkusen coach Christoph Daum added: "A character like Jurgen would fit in really well at Anfield. I
know he's regarded very highly in England and is on the wishlist of many clubs."
