Referee Jon Moss, who was at the centre of a number of controversial decisions during Tottenham's 2-2 draw with Liverpool on Sunday, will return to Merseyside this weekend.

Moss will again be joined by assistant Eddie Smart as Everton host Crystal Palace, a week after awarding Harry Kane a contentious penalty at Anfield following a lengthy discussion with Smart.

Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) has defended Moss over his handling of the incident after he appeared unsure whether the ball had touched Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren before reaching Kane, who would have been offside had it not.

Referee Jon Moss awarded Tottenham two controversial penalties in the 2-2 draw at Liverpool, the first after a lengthy discussion with his assistant Ed Smart.

As the referees convened, Moss asked fourth official Martin Atkinson if he had "got anything from TV", which PGMOL have admitted was a mistake.

Kane missed the subsequent spot-kick but, after Mohamed Salah put the hosts ahead, Moss awarded Spurs a second penalty deep into added time.

Virgil van Dijk was judged to have caught Erik Lamela, which was flagged by Smart, and Kane converted from the spot second time around.
