Andrew Robertson has credited his Liverpool team-mate Mohamed Salah with 'shutting up' racists by scoring a wonder goal during Sunday's victory over Chelsea.

Salah scored a crucial second for Liverpool as two goals in three second-half minutes kept Jurgen Klopp's side top of the Premier League table.

Ahead of the game, both Chelsea and Liverpool condemned videos that circulated on social media, which appeared to show several of the London club's supporters singing 'Salah is a bomber', apparently in reference to the Egyptian forward.

"That's the way to shut them up," said Liverpool left-back Robertson. "It's not nice but he dealt with it. It didn't affect him at all - it didn't look like it, did it?

"Sadly people are getting used to things like this now because it is happening far too often. Raheem Sterling said the other day that the only way to shut people like this up is to score goals and to beat them.

"It was a fantastic goal. He cut inside and as soon as he hit it, everyone knew it was in."
