Albert Riera has again admitted that he would be interested in a move to Liverpool.
Liverpool linked with fresh offer for midfielder
Albert Riera has again admitted that he would be interested in a move to Anfield as reports in Spain suggest Liverpool are set to make Espanyol a fresh offer.
The Reds have been linked with the midfielder for some time and reportedly made a bid of around 12million euros (£9.5million), plus Argentine Sebastian Leto, earlier in the summer.
Espanyol rejected the approach but Liverpool are now expected to return with another offer following the departure of Leto to Olympiakos, according to Sport.
There has been speculation about the futures of Xabi Alonso and Yossi Benayoun and the sale of either player could pave the way for Riera to be brought in.
Riera is under contract at Espanyol until 2012 and is valued at around 24million euros (£19million).
The 26-year-old has never hidden his affection for Liverpool but he has also insisted that he would be happy to stay at Espanyol.
"I listen to the news," the former Manchester City player told the Spanish press.
"To play in Liverpool is very attractive but also now I am very motivated in Espanyol."
