Sporting director says Reds have yet to bid for midfielder
Espanyol have not received any offers for midfielder Albert Riera, according to the club's sporting director.
Riera has been linked with a transfer away from the Primera Division side, with Liverpool reportedly keen to secure his services.
But former Reds scout Paco Herrera, now sporting director at Espanyol, has dismissed rumours of an approach for the Spain international.
"We have received no offers for Albert Riera. Not from Liverpool or any other club," Herrera told skysports.com
"We know what has been written in the newspapers, but this is the truth."
Riera's agent, Magico Diaz, went on to claim that Reds boss Rafa Benitez is keen on the 26-year-old, but suggested Espanyol's asking price could scupper a potential deal.
"Liverpool want Riera but Liverpool are reluctant to meet Espanyol's demands," said Diaz.
