Danish stopper looking to make the most of Reds' chance
Daniel Agger is ready to seize his chance in Liverpool's starting XI should manager Rafa Benitez come knocking.
Benitez will need to break up The Reds' backline for their next match against Wigan on October 18 after Martin Skrtel suffered a knee injury against Manchester City.
Although the extent of the damage is not known, the Slovakia international defender is not expected to play for Liverpool again anytime soon.
Agger is expected to benefit from Skrtel's unexpected spell on the sidelines and the Danish stopper is looking to make the most of any opportunity that may come his way.
"Of course, I was hoping for some playing time but this is not exactly the way I wished to get it," he said. "I have had to be patient, but I'm not complaining.
"I hope to get my chance now and then I will prove that it is my place. At the same time it could be (Jamie) Carragher's place we are talking about because I don't know why people only say it is me and Skrtel fighting each other for a starting position.
"The team have been playing really well and the results have been great so I couldn't really expect the manager to make too many changes.
"The only thing I could do was get my head down and concentrate on getting as fit as possible so I would be ready when my chance came."
