Aaron Ramsey admits he is “gutted” for Arsenal team-mate Danny Welbeck after the England forward was ruled out of Euro 2016 with a knee injury.

Welbeck has been ruled out for nine months after undergoing surgery on a right knee he sustained during Sunday's 2-2 draw with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

Ramsey admits the 25-year-old, who only returned in February after a ten-month layoff due to an injury on his other knee, has been left devastated by his latest injury setback.

"I have spoken to him and obviously he is very disappointed and gutted," Ramsey told Sky Sports News HQ.

"He was in good shape, good form and he had a great opportunity to show what he could do for England in the summer.

"I'm gutted for him as well but I am sure he will back from it stronger and I hope he has a speedy recovery."

Following Manchester United's 3-2 loss to West Ham on Tuesday, Arsenal head into their final game of the season against Aston Villa guaranteed to be playing Champions League football.
