Patrick Vieira has not signed a deal to become the Nice head coach, according to Sky sources, contrary to reports in France.
The ex-Arsenal midfielder was contacted by the Gunners last week over their vacant manager's position following the departure of his former manager Arsene Wenger.
His ex-team-mate Mikel Arteta looks poised to get the job as their new head coach, but another former Arsenal man in Thierry Henry is also expected to be spoken to before the appointment is made.
Nice are looking for a new head coach after Lucien Favre, who is set for a move to Borussia Dortmund, announced he was leaving last night.
Reports in France overnight claimed Vieira, who has been managing New York City since 2016, was set to take over.
Vieira has been widely considered as a long-term successor to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, and has also been linked with French clubs Nantes and Rennes.
He continues to have a very good working relationship with the City Football Group, who own Man City, New York City and Melbourne City in Australia.
