Arsene Wenger was delighted to return to the top of the Premier League table following Arsenal's 3-2 victory over Sunderland.
The Gunners raced into a two-goal lead inside 15 minutes but Ross Wallace pulled a goal back for Sunderland against the run of play and Kenwyne Jones equalised early in the second half.
However, Arsenal responded strongly and Robin van Persie struck ten minutes from time to secure all three points.
Wenger said: "I'm pleased we are back to the top. At 2-0 the game looked easy and maybe in our minds we lost a bit of urgency and gave them room to come back.
"It was a test of our resilience and quality. I think Robin's winner was deserved but they had chances as well."
"You can say that we passed it a little bit too much, but it is our game and we still scored three goals.
"We lacked a bit of sharpness. It's always difficult after a UEFA Champions League game, so if you get the three points it is good."
Arsenal remain unbeaten this season and Wenger is happy to have a lead on his premier League rivals at this early stage.
"It is important to be top because it is better than chasing someone who is 10 points in front of you, he explained
"What is very good for us is we have won seven and drawn one in the league. That shows consistency and stamina. It is down to us if we want to win every game."
