Jean-Louis Triaud is hopeful Marouane Chamakh will sign a new contract with Bordeaux.

French club keen to tie down striker on fresh terms

Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud is hopeful reported Arsenal target Marouane Chamakh will sign a new contract with the Ligue 1 club. The Gunners have been linked with a bid for the highly-rated forward, but the North London side have yet to comment on the speculation. Last week, French outfit Bordeaux denied claims an agreement for Chamakh had been struck with Arsenal. Triaud has claimed an approach from a Swiss side has been received, but Bordeaux remain focused on tying the Moroccan down to fresh terms. He told skysports.com: "I have not spoken with any player about a move. Players need to respect their contracts. "We want Marouane to sign a new contract with us, he knows that. We want to build a great team here, not sell our best players. "Chamakh has not received any offer or enquiry by a big or small Premier League club. The only enquiry has come from a Swiss club."
