Fry confirms speaking to Premier League clubs about defender
Peterborough United's director of football Barry Fry is not worried about losing Ryan Bennett after revealing he has spoken to several clubs about the defender.
Bennett, who joined Posh two years ago from Grimsby Town, has been in impressive form this season and has also made his England Under 21 debut.
The 21-year-old's performances have seen Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur linked with January bids, and Fry has confirmed he has previously discussed Bennett with the Premier League rivals.
However, after Bennett signed a new contract at London Road in the summer, Fry is not concerned about the prospect of the centre-half leaving when the transfer window reopens.
Very impressive
"Arsenal and Spurs have been tracking Ryan for a couple of years now," Fry told the
Peterborough Evening Telegraph.
"I have had conversations with them and with half-a-dozen other clubs, but it's only talk so far and I wouldn't expect that to change any time soon.
"Ryan recently signed a fresh deal with us. He's happy here and he loves working for our manager.
"Obviously if someone bid £10million that new contract wouldn't mean a lot! But that isn't likely to happen.
"There is no rush because Ryan is just going to get better and better. He's playing in a great standard of football now and has looked very impressive."
