Everton have received fresh encouragement in their pursuit of Josh Bowler after the teenager rejected QPR's offer of a new contract, Sky sources understand.

Sky sources reported earlier this month that the Toffees were preparing a second offer for the 18-year-old after seeing an initial bid of £1.5m rising to £3m turned down.

Bowler only signed professional terms in February before making his first team debut in Rangers' 4-0 defeat at Norwich on the final day of the Championship season.

Rangers are trying hard to keep the talent in west London and are attempting to do so with promises of more first-team opportunities.

However, Sky Sports News HQ understands Bowler looks increasingly likely to move to Goodison Park to join Ronald Koeman's efforts to assemble some of the finest young British talents in the Premier League.
