Steve Clarke will remain as Reading manager after holding talks with Fulham, according to Sky sources.
Fulham held discussions with Clarke over their vacant managerial role after talks with Nigel Pearson broke down.
Sky sources reported earlier this week that Clarke was on a list of three candidates to succeed the sacked Kit Symons along with Pearson and Exeter boss Paul Tisdale.
Fulham also spoke to former Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert, but he opted to join Championship rivals Blackburn on Sunday.
Symons was sacked by Fulham, relegated in May 2014 from the Premier League, in early November after a 5-2 home defeat by Birmingham City.
Clarke picked up the reins at the Madejski Stadium 11 months ago and steered the side to an FA Cup semi-final last season. Reading are four points off a play-off pace this season, with just four defeats coming from their opening 16 games.
Fulham sit 12th in the Championship, four points adrift of the Royals.
