Spurs could be set to swoop for midfielder
Former Chelsea midfielder Maniche has been linked with a return to the Premier League during the January transfer window.
The Portugal international has slipped down the pecking order at Atletico Madrid and reports suggest he could be set for a move to Tottenham.
Maniche spent four months at Stamford Bridge under Jose Mourinho in 2006, helping them claim their second Premier League crown.
With Euro 2008 looming on the horizon, the midfielder needs regular football to ensure he is part of Luiz Felipe Scolari's summer plans.
His agent Jorge Mendes told the Daily Star
: "There have been a number of European clubs who have demanded information on Maniche, including the Premier League.
"It all now depends on whether they can negotiate with Atletico."
Meanwhile, Spurs coach Juande Ramos has given his backing to under-fire goalkeeper Paul Robinson.
Robinson lost his place in the England side to Scott Carson for the final Euro 2008 qualifier against Croatia and has been blamed for a number of blunders as Spurs have shipped 36 goals in 20 league games this season.
But Ramos insists he has no plans to make a change between the posts and insists the whole Spurs side must take responsibility for their defensive woes.
He told The Times
: "We are very happy with him and what he brings to the team. The whole team gives away goals, not just Robinson."
