Heurelho Gomes has been left frustrated by a lack of action this season and admits he may be forced to leave Tottenham in the near future.
With one eye on the January transfer window, the Brazilian goalkeeper is in the process of weighing up his options.
Brad Friedel has become the undisputed number one at White Hart Lane, and that has left Gomes out of the picture.
He is not accustomed to filling back-up duties and has revealed that he is giving serious consideration to an imminent switch.
Gomes would prefer to stay in England, but feels he needs to move somewhere if he is to find regular first team football and force his way back into the Brazil squad.
He told
The People: "It is very hard to keep driving yourself on when you are not in the team. I have never been in a situation like this before.
"I think they signed Friedel to be No.2 because the people around the club said that was the case. So I was relaxed about the situation.
Preference
"I thought I'd be playing the first game against Manchester United - but it didn't happen. That's why I'm frustrated now, I thought I would remain as No.1 this season.
"I need to think about a new club because I want to play for Brazil again. To do that I need regular games and at Tottenham that is not possible.
"I would like to stay in the Premier League. My kids and wife love it here in England and I think I can earn other teams points in the same way I have for Tottenham."
While Gomes is currently planning for the short-term future, he has also hinted that he could emulate Friedel and play on into his 40s.
"I believe in myself. I am 30 now and I believe I can play at the top level for 10 more years," he said.
"Look at what Edwin van der Sar achieved late in his career, he got better and better at Man United.
"I don't know what will happen to me next but I know I am a very good goalkeeper and can play for the best clubs in the world. I would be happy to go back to Brazil - but I would love to stay in the Premier League."
