Iceland international aiming for a good start to his career at Spurs

Tottenham signing Gylfi Sigurdsson has outlined his desire for success ahead of the new season. The 22-year-old snubbed Swansea and Liverpool to link up with Andre Villas-Boas at White Hart lane. The Iceland international believes the move to north London will ultimately fulfil his desires to win trophies. "I'm delighted to be here," he told the club's official website. "It's a massive club with fantastic players.

Ambition

"This club is always improving. There is massive ambition from the board and the players are really ambitious as well. We're all looking forward for the new season to begin." Sigurdsson blossomed during a loan spell with Swansea in the second half of last season. He finished his spell at the Liberty Stadium with seven goals and three assists in 19 games.

That period allowed him to acclimatise in the Premier League but he admits the challenges at Tottenham this term will be a lot sterner. "The main target at Swansea was to stay in the league, here at Spurs, it's a big club and we aim to win titles and silverware," he added. "I think the most important thing is that we get off to a good start in the Premier League, get a good momentum and then we can take that into the Europa League and then the FA Cup. "We want to play for silverware in every competition we are in."
