Rovers star feels team-mate should be captain again

Ryan Nelsen feels Chris Samba should be given the Blackburn Rovers captaincy back. Samba was stripped of the armband after his outspoken comments following Sam Allardyce's shock departure from the club last month. The central defender looks set to get the captaincy back, though, and Nelsen feels that is the right decision. "I will definitely give it back to Chris when the manager feels he's got his head right and is right behind Blackburn 100 per cent," said Nelsen. Rovers boss Steve Kean has intimated that Samba could get the armband as early as their trip to Sunderland on Saturday, should he pass a late fitness test. "The way he explained it to me was really good. He said, 'I've never asked to leave. All I said was that if a bigger club comes in I've aspirations to play in Europe and win things, then it's something I would look at'," explained Kean. "I stressed that we want to build a squad that gets us into the top half, then next summer we'll make additions to try and challenge the top six. "As soon as he heard that he was much more positive."
