Manager Rafael Benitez thinks his Newcastle team are going about their work with more confidence after a first Premier League win of the season last week.
It has been a tough start to the season for the Magpies but they beat Watford at St James' Park last weekend and are now out of the relegation zone, albeit only on goal difference.
They play host to Bournemouth on Saturday and Benitez says there is a more optimistic mood around the club going into the match.
"Obviously after an important win, everybody is a little bit happier," said Benitez.
"You can feel the difference on the training pitch and in the city. And also your questions are nicer. They are easier!
"The confidence is higher but we need to keep doing the right things. Hopefully, we can continue with the same feeling after the next game.
"We were not winning. I think we deserved to win some of the games we played - but we were not and we needed to get three points and have more confidence.
"But I was telling the players that we have to be really focused on this game, because it is just one step forward.
"We have to keep working and start running."
Jamaal Lascelles, Jonjo Shelvey and Yoshinori Muto all had to be substituted last week and may be absent again.
Sung-Yeung Ki, Fabian Schar and goalscorer Ayoze Perez filled in capably from the bench and could be in the line-up from the start this week.
"Muto and Shelvey, they were not training," said Benitez. "Jamaal had a training session, but I think it will be difficult for him to play tomorrow.
"Maybe all three will be out. The other players understand what they have to do - all they have to do is what they did last week.
"We know Bournemouth are very difficult to play against but we have confidence that, with the fans behind, we can do it."
