Celtic boss ends chase for a 'keeper by landing Magpies man

Celtic have confirmed Fraser Forster has returned to the club on a season-long loan deal with the view to a permanent switch. The 23-year-old enjoyed a standout campaign north of the border last year, where he made 44 appearances for the Hoops and helped them win the Scottish Cup. With Tim Krul and Steve Harper blocking his route to the Newcastle number one jersey, the rookie 'keeper has opted for first-team action at Celtic Park. And his arrival has thrilled Celtic manager Neil Lennon as he continues to make use of the summer transfer market.

Delighted

"We're absolutely delighted as he's been our main target, basically, since the end of last season," Neil Lennon told Celtic's official website. "We've worked hard in the background to try and bring him in and we've eventually done that so we're very, very pleased. "It's given myself a boost and it's given the squad a huge boost as well as we've now got three very, very good goalkeepers so there's great competition in that area, which is what we wanted all along. "I felt we'd always get a keeper. Fraser was the one who was top of the list but there were other options that we could have gone for but we're thrilled that he's here now."
