Ex-Newcastle captain thinks West Ham move was correct decision

Kevin Nolan does not think leaving Newcastle for West Ham in the summer was a mistake. The former Magpies captain enjoyed an excellent season in 2010/11, but made a surprise move to Upton Park in June. Nolan's decision to leave St James' Park came after a failure to earn a new contract, as manager Alan Pardew opted to take the club in a different direction. Pardew's new-look side are surpassing expectations in fourth place in the Premier League, while Nolan and West Ham are fighting for promotion from the Championship.

Right for me

But the midfielder said in the Daily Mirror: "I don't regret anything I've done in my life. "It was a tough decision to leave Newcastle, but it was right for me and everyone involved." Nolan also believes the season he spent in the Championship with Newcastle in 2009/10 is proving beneficial, as West Ham sit second in the table. He said: "It's going very well for us. I'm using the experience I got two years ago with Newcastle."
