Inter striker moving closer to City switch

Roberto Mancini has confirmed Manchester City are 'close' to completing the signing of Mario Balotelli as the Inter Milan forward flew in to undergo a medical. Balotelli's agent revealed on Thursday that a deal to take the Inter Milan striker to Eastlands was moving forward after the two clubs finally agreed a fee for his services. The 20-year-old has been a long-term transfer target for Mancini, but the club were struggling to secure a deal with European champions Inter. However, a compromise has now been reached with reports suggesting City will pay £24million for the Italy international. Inter have now given 20-year-old Balotelli permission to travel to England to hold talks with City and undergo a medical. And speaking at his press conference ahead of the new Premier League season, Mancini said: "We are close with Balotelli. Hopefully today or tomorrow. Mario is on his way here today." If all goes to plan, Balotelli will become City's fifth signing of another busy and expensive summer after the arrivals of Jerome Boateng, David Silva, Yaya Toure and Aleksandar Kolarov.
