City striker opts for home-town club

Manchester City's Craig Bellamy has opted to join home-town club Cardiff City, skysports.com understands. A host of clubs had been tracking the 31-year-old, who has already been told by City boss Roberto Mancini that he does not figure in his plans for this season. Celtic and Tottenham had been leading the chase, whilst the likes of Fulham, Everton and Bolton had also been linked. However, Bellamy has now opted for a loan spell back in his native Wales and is to join Cardiff City. The news will be a huge boost to Dave Jones and represents a massive transfer coup for the Bluebirds. Cardiff have called a press conference for 3pm on Tuesday when Bellamy's signing is expected to be confirmed.
