Adama Traore has joined Middlesbrough from Aston Villa on a permanent deal, and Sky sources understand Adam Reach is the subject of a £5m bid from Sheffield Wednesday.
Traore arrived at Villa Park before the club's 2015/16 Premier League season for £7m from Barcelona, but the 20-year-old has now joined Boro on a four-year deal.
He is another important player and I am expecting a lot from him," Boro boss Aitor Karanka told the club's official site.
"I've known him since he was a kid. He went into the national team just after I left, but I know all about him and what he can do.
"His level is higher than he showed last season, but in the right environment I'm hoping that he will show what he is capable of."
Traore did not start a single Premier League match last season, and has appeared once off the bench in the Sky Bet Championship under recently-appointed manager Roberto Di Matteo this term against Rotherham.
Traore becomes Aitor Karanka's 11th senior signing of the summer.
Also, Sky sources understand Boro winger Reach is the subject of a £5m bid from Sheffield Wednesday.
Reach has been at the Teesside club since 2010 and has had loan spells at Darlington, Shrewsbury, Bradford and Preston. He returned to Middlesbrough before the start of last season and made 38 appearances, scoring four goals in their promotion-winning campaign last season.
