Middlesbrough goalkeeper Connor Ripley has signed a new three-year contract and immediately joined Burton Albion on a season-long loan.
Ripley, who was not part of Middlesbrough's matchday squad for their Championship opener against Wolves at the weekend, has agreed a deal keeping him with the club until 2020.
The 24-year-old has previously had loan spells at Oxford, Bradford City, Ostersund and Motherwell, and made a temporary switch to Oldham last term, where he equalled Oldham's club-record for the highest number of clean sheets (18) in a season.
"I'm delighted to have signed an extended contract with my hometown club and very grateful to have the chance to play in the Championship with Burton," Ripley told Middlesbrough's official website.
"I hope to be able to step up from League One and the good season I had with Oldham and prove I can play at a higher level, which is what I've always wanted to do.
"I'd like to think I've learned quickly and will continue to develop at a good level with another good club this season.
"My focus is of course with Burton, but the first result I'll look for after the games will be Boro's."
