Fulham boss wants new deal

Fulham boss Roy Hodgson has confirmed he is in talks over a new contract. Hodgson's current deal expires at the end of the season, but Fulham are anxious to secure his signature on a new deal. Hodgson has done a tremendous job since taking over the reins at Craven Cottage in 2007 - guiding them to seventh in the Premier League last term, which earned them a place in the Europa League. And Hodgson has now confirmed that talks are ongoing. "I am open to discussions," he said. "Fulham has already got in touch with my agent." Hodgson was speaking on the eve of Fulham's trip to the Stadio Olimpico as they face Roma on Thursday evening. And the Fulham boss admits that because Basel are likely to beat basement side CSKA Sofia in Group E - then losing at Roma would be a huge blow. "I expect Basel to win," Hodgson said. "That means that whoever loses at the Stadio Olimpico will have a difficult task to progress. "I think in order for us to go through to the next round, we will need to finish with nine or 10 points. "We will be wise and be prepared for a difficult game. "We want to see how far we can go against them. "I didn't see a struggling Roma in our opening game. I am sure Roma will finish quite high up in the Serie A table, they have great players. They have plenty of time to change things around."
