Cottagers pass on Roma striker

Sky Sports News understands that Fulham have ended their efforts to sign Roma forward Stefano Okaka. The Cottagers had been chasing the 20-year-old frontman for some time, and appeared to be closing in on a deal. Roy Hodgson was keen to take the youngster on loan for the remainder of the season after losing Bobby Zamora to a broken collarbone. With Clint Dempsey also picking up a knock during Sunday's 2-0 defeat to Blackburn, Fulham have seen their attacking options severely depleted. That should ensure that Hodgson continues to track new recruits throughout the January transfer window, but he will not be pursuing his interest in Okaka. The Roma ace is believed to be carrying an injury which would prevent him from slipping straight into the first-team fold at Fulham, thus rendering him useless at present.
