Latics boss favourite for Anfield
Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan has told Sky Sports that Liverpool have not made an approach for Roberto Martinez.
The Merseyside giants confirmed the sacking of Dalglish on Wednesday and Wigan boss Martinez has emerged as the early favourite to replace him at Anfield.
But, after being contacted by Sky Sports, Whelan was quick to confirm that he had not heard anything from Liverpool's owners Fenway Sports Group.
"At this moment in time, there has been no approach from Liverpool or any other club for Roberto Martinez," Whelan confirmed.
Martinez has been targeted by rival clubs in the past and last summer he turned down the chance to take over at Aston Villa.
