Charlton striker a loan target for Fairclough

Barnet boss Paul Fairclough has confirmed his interest in signing Charlton Athletic striker Izale McLeod on loan. McLeod has struggled for regular football since joining the Addicks last summer from Milton Keynes Dons. He has scored once in 18 Championship appearances - starting only twice - and could be offered a temporary return to League Two. Fairclough said: "We are actively pursuing the matter and are waiting to hear about our approaches for other players. "It's obvious to everyone that we need a striker - a Jack Lester type figure or a Giuliano Grazioli of three seasons ago type of player. "I won't smash our wage structure to smithereens and the size of our crowds does reflect the quality of player we can sign." Fairclough also revealed that he had a loan approach for West Ham youngster Freddie Sears rejected by the Premier League club. Barnet are also hoping to extend the contract of midfielder Neal Bishop, who still has 18 months to run on his existing deal.
